"Copy, Captain."

Soap

"That's more like it. How are you feeling? Any discomfort? ...Don't give me that look! Don't tell me I'm annoying—this time I'm asking for Keegan."

"The most uncomfortable thing is being stuck in bed and getting bombarded with visits."

"...Sit down. We need to talk. Alright?"

Soap

"I was afraid... you'd think being pulled from training meant you're being cut out of the team... because this time, my oversight was partly to blame... and leaving you to gear up alone was one of the reasons this nearly ended badly. But I... if I'm bothering you—"

"Hey... no, Soap. Stop."

"Don't punish yourself over things I don't even care about, man. And that's not what I wanted to talk about."

"Gaz told me yesterday you guys went to supply to raise hell. I want to know the follow-up."

"Long story short—Price's side of it got us two things: equipment pre-selection and an independent storage process. The goal is for us to control our own budget down the line. Supply only audits the books periodically—no meddling in day-to-day use."

"That's a solid outcome."

"Bureaucracy moves slow, though. Details and implementation'll take time. But it's a decent start."

"——A decent fall off a building, you mean."

"—Hey,I didn't mean it like that."

Soap

"I was joking—Soap, what's up with you."

"So what's the price tag? No way those bastards caved without a fight."

Soap

"The guy at the window kept his job."

"What's the reasoning?"

"Followed procedure."

Soap

"His actions were fully compliant with current regulations. The rope was old, but within safety standards. Issue records were complete. The distribution flow was compliant. To hold him personally accountable, we'd have to prove malicious intent in his 'by-the-book' conduct... but..."

"...But we can't prove it."

"Right. Being deliberately difficult and holding a grudge isn't grounds for action. No one says you have to be friendly to work in supply."

"Supply keeping him on isn't surprising. If they'd caved and thrown a 'by-the-book' employee under the bus just because we made noise—"

Soap

"—everyone on base would think whoever screams loudest gets to walk all over them."

"...Nobody won. Nobody lost."

Soap

"That's just how negotiations go."

"At least—nobody's handing us old ropes anymore."

Soap

"It's getting late. Get some rest. I'll head out—I'll be back tomorrow—"

"Get out. If you come back one more time, I'm posting Ghost's pudding theft to the team chat."

"By the time I wake up, I'm out of here!"

"Copy, Captain."

Soap

"Soap—wait."

(Soap,

"Yeah?"

"...Thanks. Really. And stop beating yourself up—do it for me, yeah?"

Soap

"Copy that, ma'am."

"Goodnight, Soap."

(晚安,Soap。)

"Goodnight, YN."

Ghost,

"Nothing you want to ask?"

Ghost

"Your face already told me."

Soap

"Why didn't you go in yourself?"

"She's still on observation. Two sentences out of me and she'd be fit to throw a bedpan."

Ghost

"And she needs to be at that joint task force briefing. Better not in a wheelchair."

"I don't get you two. Can't you—just sit down and have a proper talk?"

"We talked."

Ghost

"We're fine talking. Doesn't mean we don't fight."

Soap

"Did she eat the pudding?"

"...No."

"You didn't tell her it was from me, did you?"

Ghost问。

Soap

"Maybe she just doesn't like chocolate."

"...Should've let me eat it."

"Suck it, Johnny—if it weren't for you, nobody'd be in the hospital."

"Oi, that's not fair! Your babysitting bag didn't help either."

Soap

"...If you'd just told her off right then, made her re-request and re-rig, maybe none of this would've happened."

Ghost

Ghost

"Mind if I have a smoke? Stay with me for a bit."

"How the fuck are you asking me for permission?"

Soap

"That's too gentle. Kind of gross."

Soap

"Seriously, Ghost—you really just gonna let the rope thing slide?"

"Procedurally, there's nothing more we can do."

Soap

"Got it. So we just don't go through procedure."

Ghost

"Fast learner, Johnny."

"So, when?"

Ghost

"Don't act on impulse until I give the word. Still some prep work to do."

"Just don't leave me out. I don't want to miss this."

"Don't worry, you'll have your part."

"Keep your head down for now. Don't let any noise drag you under. We don't have much time as it is."

"Any progress on the earlier business?"

Soap问。

Ghost

"Maybe. Laswell's coming to the joint task force briefing. We'll know what's next then."

"If there's a combat op coming out of this... you think Price will bring her along?"

Ghost

Soap

"Keegan's side—let the Americans sort that out. But what about her?"

(Keegan

"That stubborn head of hers?"

"...Better not."

"Who do you think she's really with? More Boffin types?"

Boffin?)

"Paper's clean. But that doesn't mean anything, Johnny. Anyone who comes through UAC channels has military strings attached."

"Everyone flying for the CIA gets sheep-dipped."

"So... is she one of us—"

Soap

"—or one of Keegan's?"

Ghost

"Preferably neither."

Soap

"She doesn't belong here."

Ghost

"Clean head, raised in a clean world. Best she does her job and fucks off back to her red flag."

"Thought you liked her."

Soap

"Thought you and Price might be warming up to bringing her in. She'd get us. Having a magician on the team's not a bad thing, is it?"

"Negative."

"Come on, Johnny. Plenty of shit to clean up. Starting with that rope idiot..."

Ghost
